Project 1: Agri Share

Context

We want to develop an application available in French cities.This application is intended to create a collaborative space, bringing together professionals and/or individuals with a plot of land that can be used in urban areas with private individuals/associations/farmers wishing to develop and maintain an agricultural space. We believe that an application of this type would allow to maximize the yields of unused spaces in the city, while bringing a strong ecological aspect to cities wishing to strengthen the inclusion of green spaces in their development logics.

The service offered is simple: an application linking holders of exploitable zones in urban areas with people wishing to practice an agricultural activity there.

Project 2: Crop Forecast

Context

In 2014, 170 Colombian rice farmers avoided $3.6 million losses thanks to meteorological big-data that helped identify a 10 years pattern in climate. Scientists had told the farmers to plant the rice at another time to prevent the losses.

Farmers are suffering from the effect of climate change, of weather change. With our Crop Forecast app we want to help them in fightint against these effects and help them reduce the risks of such effects. The Crop Forecast app helps the farmers in decision making for their crops, whether it is about planting, spraying, irrigating, harvesting. The app collects all the data from the farmers' lands and connects it to a meteorological big-data base to create the biggest meteorological data base to help anticipate the effects of a shifting weather, help them reduce potential losses and help them to grow their lands. Farmers using the Crop Forecast app will also be part of a community : they will be able to communicate with other farmers from everywhere in the world, to share their knowledge, questions etc.

A resilient agriculture is based on composing with weather, climate. That is what Crop Forecast wants to do.

Target

The Crop Forecast app targets the farmers who understand the urge to adapting facing climate change, who need help in fighting against its effects, but who also want to be part of a farming community that understands this urge.

Service offered

The Crop Forecast app offers a system of alerts for the farmers. What to plant and when, what to spray and when, when to irrigate, what to harvest and when. These alerts will help the farmers in reducing the risks but also in increasing their productions. Crop Forecast is a help to decision making for farmers, thanks to data on the weather and also an insurance. Farmers will be able to visualize how the weather will affect their crops. There is a chat part when farmers can talk with their peers, share knowledge and doubts.
